The Yemeni President, Ali Abdullah Saleh, is in the United States for medical treatment.

He arrived on Saturday and is expected to stay for an unspecified time although the Yemeni Embassy in Washington told CNN he would return to Yemen in February.

Saleh's plane arrived in the US after a brief touchdown in the United Kingdom for refueling.

It is believed his medical treatment may be linked his wounding in a June bomb attack on his presidential palace.

Since then, there have been many political moves from various countries to ease him from power.

President Saleh is expected to step down from power in Yemen next month after being in charge for more than 33 years.
